Bachman Voted President of BSU Board

Bob BachmanBONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (April 13, 2011) – The Bonita Springs Utilities Inc. board of directors elected Bob Bachman president for 2011-12. Paul Attwood and John Mathes were re-elected vice president and secretary respectively, and Frank Liles serves as treasurer. BSU member-customers elect the nine board members to govern the utility.

Bachman, a board member since November 2000, is owner/president of WBG SW Florida. He previously served as president, vice president and treasurer. Attwood, a board member since 2001, is district coordinator for oil and gas regulation for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. He served four terms as board secretary and has been vice president since 2010.

Mathes, owner of Mathes Realty Appraisal and Mathes Realty Inc., has served on the board since 1990 and has held all four offices, including four terms as president. Liles, a native of Bonita Springs, is the senior member of the board, serving since 1986. He retired from Sprint after a 40-year career.
Other board members include Hank Hochstetler, Steve McIntosh, David McKee, Robert Sharkey and Jim Strecansky. The board of directors meets at 5 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of each month. In addition, each board member serves on various subcommittees and work groups, devoting from 10 to 60 hours a month working with the utility’s management and staff.
            Bonita Springs Utilities is a not-for-profit water and wastewater utility founded by local citizens in 1971. Today, the member-owned utility serves more than 40,000 homes and businesses in a 60-square-mile area. For more information, visit the BSU website at www.BSU.us.

Water Conservation
The South Florida Water Management District is a regional governmental agency that oversees the water resources in the southern half of the state, covering 16 counties from Orlando to the Florida Keys and serving a population of 7.5 million residents.

It is the oldest and largest of the state's five water management districts. Created in 1949, the agency is responsible for managing and protecting water resources of South Florida by balancing and improving water quality, flood control, natural systems and water supply.
