Bonita Springs Utilities Inc. has announced winners of the 2019 “Drop Savers” water conservation poster contest:
-Ashley Lopez-Sanchez, Spring Creek Elementary second-grade student, Division 2;
-Suri Rodrigues, Spring Creek Elementary fourth-grade student, Division 3; and
-Maribel Mendoza, Bonita Springs High ninth-grade student, Division 5.
Conducted in partnership with the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association, BSU coordinated with Bonita Springs and Estero schools for the second year to encourage students to create a poster depicting a water conservation idea in slogan form, drawing form or both. The contest helps students learn about and promote water awareness and the importance of water conservation in their daily routines. The winners were chosen based on the water conservation message, creativity and originality depicted through their artwork.
“The earlier we begin educating the next generation about water conservation, the earlier we can help them adopt important water-saving habits,” said John R. Jenkins, BSU executive director. “It’s encouraging to see such strong participation from our local schools, students and their.”
BSU awarded each of its winners with award certificates and $25 gift cards to both Prado Stadium 12 and Royal Scoop. The winners also received water conservation kits and certificates of participation.
